SPUSD COVID-19 Update - March 1, 2022

Dear SPUSD Families, Faculty, Staff, and Administrators,

Yesterday, Governor Newsom and the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) announced changes to the indoor masking requirements in TK-12 school settings.

The State announced that after March 11, 2022, indoor masking for students and employees will shift from required to strongly recommended for both vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals. Additionally, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health announced that it will align its masking guidance with the CDPH and strongly recommend masks while indoors.

In light of these changes, South Pasadena Unified School District also will align its masking guidance with the County and State effective Monday, March 14, 2022. We appreciate and acknowledge that there will be differences of opinion about this guidance. Please respect every individual’s personal choice about mask wearing.

If you have any questions about the changes to the County guidelines, please contact the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health COVID-19 Information Hotline at 1-833-540-0473. This line is available in multiple languages and operates 7 days a week from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Regards,

Geoff Yantz, Ed.D.
Superintendent
