Dr. Geoff Yantz began his teaching career in the elementary classroom and has held the positions of Assistant Principal, Principal, Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services, and Deputy Superintendent prior to his appointment to Superintendent of Schools in El Segundo Unified School District. He was the youngest unified district superintendent in California when he assumed that role in 2007. Dr. Yantz was hired as Superintendent of Schools for the South Pasadena Unified School District in April 2014. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Geography (University of California at Santa Barbara), a Master of Arts in Curriculum (California State University at Dominguez Hills), a Master of Science in Administration (Pepperdine), and a Doctorate in Technology (Pepperdine).
During his tenure in El Segundo, Dr. Yantz was involved in creating and designing highly structured, progressive staff development programs, implemented a one-to-one iPad initiative at the high school, developed a framework for college and career pathways in engineering, arts, medicine, business and bi-literacy, and established a positive culture based on sound instructional pedagogy and teacher-led change. Additionally, he redesigned the District's special education instructional delivery model and created inspiration for and developed the framework to pursue the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program.
Dr. Yantz has earned countless awards including multiple PTA Honorary Service Awards, Pepperdine University Ghedesi Academic Achievement Award and Scholarship, Association of California School Administrators Region XIV Elementary Principal of the Year, and El Segundo Chamber of Commerce David Jones Award in Education.
Dr. Yantz and his wife have three young children. His free time is spent boogie boarding with his family and attending his children’s sporting events.
