First Place in Photography Competition Goes to SPHS Senior

Congratulations to SPHS students Alexander Pobereyko (1st Place), Ian Howard (3rd Place), Nico Watford-Edelson (Abstracts), Emiko Essmiller (Places), and Naiomi Gary (Things) on winning scholarships for excellence in photographic art as part of the Ericson Foundation Photography Competition on March 14, 2026.

All finalist competition photographs were judged blindly. Esteemed competition judges select the first, second, and third place winners and the category winners (abstracts, people, places, things). Ericson Foundation Board members determine the honorable mention awards.

The William G. Ericson Foundation, in partnership with the PCC Foundation, sponsored the photographic art competition open to public high schools in the Pasadena City College district area to provide awards to meritorious students.

The photos will be on display during an opening reception on April 11, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. and on April 25 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the South Pasadena Arts Council (SPARC) Gallery at 1121 Mission Street, South Pasadena. Both events are open to the public.

We appreciate the hard work of all our students and their photography teacher, Rouzanna Berberian.

Go, Tigers!
