SOUTH PASADENA, Calif. (August 13, 2025) – South Pasadena Unified School District’s (SPUSD) new Superintendent, Dr. Angela Baxter, has released a 100-day plan that outlines her short-term goals.
During the August 12, 2025 Board meeting, Dr. Baxter shared details of the plan, which centers on four themes: engagement and communication, student achievement, collaborative governance, and fiscal responsibility.
“South Pasadena Unified offers a rich history of academic excellence,” said Superintendent Baxter. “Working together includes moving forward and maintaining the district’s critical progress while learning about each other and all the tremendous educational options and programs available for students.”
Dr. Baxter plans to meet with students, educators, administrators, and families during her first 100 days. Understanding the importance of community relationships, she hopes to create avenues for communication that will allow for all voices to be heard. She will be present at school sites and in classrooms to observe firsthand teaching and learning with a continued emphasis on social-emotional development and academic achievement.
Dr. Baxter will lead by building trust, ensuring transparency, and emphasizing collaboration during her meetings and when making decisions. She aims to share information through clear and frequent communication. All of these goals will be guided by an understanding of the ever-present budget sensitivities and challenges.
“In the next few months, I will listen, learn, reflect, and lead,” said Superintendent Baxter. “The 100-day plan maps out what I plan to prioritize for the students and families of South Pasadena.”
The SPUSD Board of Education selected Dr. Baxter as its next leader in May 2025. She began her role with SPUSD on July 1, 2025, immediately following the retirement of Dr. Geoff Yantz.
