Four South Pasadena High School students have earned Silver Medals at the national level of the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards competition. Monty Bonz, Tyler Doig, Taidi Yue, and Sadie Zierler earned Gold Key awards at the regional level that automatically advanced them to national judging. National medalists receive certificates and medals and are considered for national exhibition, publication, and scholarship opportunities.
At the regional level, SPHS students earned a whopping 100 awards. SPHS regional winners earning Honorable Mention, Silver Key, and Gold Key Awards are listed here. Works are judged on originality, technical skill, and emergence of personal vision or voice. Congratulations to all the student winners and their supervising teachers: Mark Afram, Rouzanna Berberian, Karen Hames, Aimee Levie-Hultman, and Diane Shires.
