New Executive Director of Student Support Services

SOUTH PASADENA, Calif. (November 20, 2024) -- South Pasadena Unified School District (SPUSD) has named Nancy Goldstein as Executive Director of Student Support Services. Goldstein will be replacing Dr. Dennis Lefevre who will be retiring at the end of the school year.

Goldstein has served as SPUSD’s Program Specialist for Student Support Services for the past 10 years. In her present role, she has assisted the Executive Director with the coordination of district, regional, and non-public special education programs. She is responsible for overseeing special day class placements, consulting with and training teachers in special education and disability topics, coordinating instructional assistants throughout the district, assisting with 504 plan and IEP meetings, and helping implement special education services. Prior to her current position, Goldstein worked as a school psychologist for the District. For 16 years, she helped administer and analyze intellectual, academic, social-emotional, and behavioral assessments. Among many responsibilities, she led crisis intervention teams and provided specialized training to staff. Goldstein began her career as a sixth grade teacher at Oak Creek-Franklin Joint School District in Oak Creek, Wisconsin.

Goldstein earned a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She holds a Master of Science in Educational Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwauee and has completed post graduate school training in neuropsychology with Texas Woman’s University.

Goldstein will continue to work alongside Dr. Dennis Lefevre through the end of the school year when Dr. Lefevre will retire. SPUSD expresses sincere thanks to Dr. Lefevre for his leadership and compassion while working with thousands of children and young adults. SPUSD wishes him all the best in his future endeavors.
