Two SPHS Students Win Awards in 2024 Congressional Art Competition

Congratulations to SPHS senior, Heejoon (Joon) Lee, who earned second place, and senior Sophia Atencio, who earned an honorable mention, in the 2024 Congressional Art Competition. Both students were recognized by Congresswoman Judy Chu during an awards ceremony held at Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens on April 8, 2024. SPHS students exhibited more than 50 works of art and photography at the competition.

Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide high school visual art competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent in each congressional district. Students submit entries to their representative’s office, and panels of congressional district artists select the winning entries. In the 28th District of California, the judges represented the Art Center College of Design.

Congratulations to these students and their inspiring teachers Aimee Levie-Hultman (SPHS Art) and Rouzanna Berberian (SPHS Photography).

Go, Tigers!
