On Friday, October 13, 17 South Pasadena High School (SPHS) students who participate in the Internship Program, SkillsUSA, CTE, and Project Lead the Way pathways visited Oak Crest Institute of Science in Monrovia, Calif. for a science lab crawl.

 

Students discussed STEM careers with representatives from ChromoLogic and toured the research labs at Oak Crest. Scientists introduced the students to equipment and techniques they are using in current projects involving COVID and HIV research. Students also heard a presentation about hydroponic farming by Velocigro.

 

Oak Crest is an innovative chemistry and biology research and education center where scientists immerse students of all academic levels in high-impact research. CTE teacher Sandra Matson-Fennell led students during this experience.
