Fourth Grade Mission Projects with a Twist

During this unusual school year, Marengo Mandarin Dual Immersion teachers Priscilla Dea and Taylor Giberson developed an innovative way to approach the annual fourth grade California mission project.

Using concepts from engineering, math, social studies and iterative design, students worked in groups to create blueprints for their missions. With the support of SPUSD Instructional Coach Chad Bryant, the students then translated their 2D blueprints to 3D models using the free Tinkercad application. Six of the models were 3D printed and given to the class. This project helped deepen students’ understanding and engaged them with technology tools while learning transferable skills.

Did we mention this was all done through distance learning in February? Go Lions!
