ELOP Background
Assembly Bill (AB) 130, Sec. 52 established the Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP). ELOP provides funding for afterschool and summer school enrichment programs for transitional kindergarten through fifth-grade students meeting income eligibility requirements within program capacity limits.
"Expanded learning" means after-school, or intersession learning programs that focus on developing the academic, social, emotional, and physical needs and interests of pupils through hands-on, engaging learning experiences. It is the intent of the Legislature that expanded learning programs are pupil-centered, results-driven, include community partners, and complement, but do not replicate, learning activities in the regular school day and school year.
ELOP is an extension of SPUSD’s existing Extended Day Program.
The primary goal of the Expanded Learning Opportunities Program in SPUSD is academic support, enrichment, and connections for students beyond the regular school day. We are asking all families to fill out the
Benefit and Meal Application. Completing the meal application benefits the district in multiple ways, and your family could qualify for lower utilities, internet fees, and other benefits including the Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP). To see if you qualify, please click the appropriate
link and fill out the
application.
