South Pasadena Unified School District is committed to providing accurate and transparent information regarding COVID-19 cases on our campuses, while also maintaining privacy and confidentiality for our students and staff. This data will be updated regularly and as cases are confirmed.
Communications Process For Positive Cases
In the event there is a positive case, affected individuals, including close contacts, will be notified and provided with information that may include isolation instructions and other important details. Communication may be sent to the wider school community informing of exposure and precautions taken to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
Non-vaccinated close contacts will need to quarantine for 10 days, which can be shortened to 7 days with a negative test for COVID-19 taken on day 5 after exposure or later. They also need to monitor for symptoms for 14 days from the date of exposure. Fully vaccinated close contacts do not need to quarantine, but it is strongly recommended that they be tested for COVID-19 and continue to monitor for symptoms for 14 days from the date of exposure.
Reporting Instructions for Families
If your child or anyone in your household is suspected of having COVID-19, tests positive for COVID-19 or is awaiting test results, please keep your child at home and notify your school health office.
What Families Can Do to Limit the Spread
In addition to health and safety measures taken on campuses, we encourage families to be proactive and to reinforce the importance of hand-washing, physical distancing and face coverings to limit the spread of the coronavirus.
Please monitor any symptoms of COVID-19 closely and do not come to school if you are showing symptoms of infectious illness. Seek guidance from your personal physician or your school health clerk. SPUSD schools and staff will work with students and families to maintain confidentiality and to help continue your child's education.
