Dear Parents,

I hope that you are all enjoying the winter break and have had some great family time. Have you made any resolutions? Do you want to learn something new? Improve a skill set you already have?Take more adventures? Will any of these pursuits involve researching information or reading for pleasure? I hope so, since reading in front of your children ensures they understand the value and importance of being a good reader. Would you like to help further? This month we have a Reading Fluency Workshop for Parents of 1st-5th grade students.

Reading has a set of identified skills. These can continuously be developed, whether a student is at the emerging, transitional/nearly fluent stage, or has begun to read for new learning. One of those skills is fluency. Fluency skills are necessary across all grade levels as it is critical to ensure reading comprehension. Upper grade students can greatly benefit from improved fluency as they are consistently being introduced to new vocabulary

Please mark your calendar on Jan. 21 from 3:00-3:30 to join Teacher on Special Assignment, Mrs. Bishop to learn an exciting, research based strategy to help your child become a more fluent reader. Attached you will find a handy-dandy flyer with more details and watch for a second notice with a zoom link.

Zoom Link coming soon.
