The winter sports season has been especially good for both SPHS girls and boys athletic teams. Four out of the five teams, including Girls Water Polo, Boys Soccer, and Boys/Girls Basketball, have qualified for the CIF-SS playoffs. South Pasadena High School will host four home CIF-SS first-round playoff matches this week. 

Both the Boys and Girls Basketball teams have established remarkable records, with a combined 46-10 performance (Boys 22-6, Girls 24-4). This accomplishment stands as a significant milestone for the Tigers. Both basketball programs have clinched outright Rio Hondo League Championships in the same year, boasting a combined 19-1 record in the league. Notably, the Boys Basketball team's league title marks a historic achievement. The last time the SPHS Boys Basketball Tigers accomplished this feat was in 1993.
